Defiance, MO – October 19, 2013, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Historic Daniel Boone Home and Boonesfield Village, Defiance, MO, is where the stories of our past will haunt you.
Travel back to the early 1800s where superstition and fear of the unknown led to strange rituals and beliefs. The night will be illuminated by the glow of lanterns as guests make their way through the village and Boone Home witnessing fear, doubt, and uncertainty.
Walk through the Boonefield Village to hear stories of ghosts, goblins, and those unexpected things that go bump in the night. A great family friendly event.
Carthage, MO – October 11-20, 2013.
This annual event began back in the 1960s, and has grown throughout the years to include many more events during the one-week festival. It starts with a variety of activities throughout the week including a family fun walk, beauty pageants, baby and toddler contests, and other competitions.
On the third Saturday of the month, there is a parade that is said to be the largest parade in Southwest Missouri. It begins at 9 a.m. on the historic Carthage square and ends around noon at the Carthage Middle School.
Throuhout the day on that Saturday, there will be craft and food booths around the square, a petting zoo, a car show, and live entertainment.

Springfield, MO – October 3-5, 2014. Admission and parking are free for this large agricultural trade show (It’s one of the largest in the Midwest!) held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, MO.
There will be over 750 booths of products and services for the farm and ranch, as well as more than 500 head of purebred livestock on display.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free.

Camdenton, MO – October 25, 2013, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is Ha Ha Tonka State Park’s 20th annual Ha Ha Haunt. Come to the park for this free, family-friendly Halloween activity. The quarter-mile trail from the parking lot to the castle ruins will be lined with jack-o-lanterns carved by Camdenton Elementary students. The students compete in several categories at the local school to see who can carve the best jack-o-lantern then display them at Ha Ha Haunt. At the castle ruins, you can make a s’more over a campfire and enjoy hot chocolate. Kids can do a Halloween craft, get a bag of treats, and try their hand at a bean bag toss to win a prize. The castle lawn will be full of decorations that are always fun to look at and take pictures with.

There will be lots of good food – famous deep fried turkey breast meat & turkey legs, plus BBQ beef, pork, alligator meat, funnell cakes, kettle corn, corn dogs, Chinese food & many other food items.
